hey all,
Next week we will continue with our freshly installed XMPP servers :).
We will use the day to create different channels and write scripts/bots
that will process the images, texts, links, etc. that are sent to the
channels into webpages. We will use these channels as research channels:
streams of material that capture your current interests and questions
around the topic of network infrastructures and federated publishing.
Please gather a couple of things, files, notes, text, etc. before
Tuesday to work with. Also think about one or multiple channels you
would like to start.
A couple of things to consider: What are the questions that a channel
explores? Are there shared questions in the group that can come together
in shared channels? Can a channel be formed around a disagreement? Is
the material in the channel a collage, a timeline, a conversation, or
something else?
If you want to send images to your channel and your image-upload
function is not working on your server, please subscribe an extra
account on another server (either Artemis' server or a public XMPP server).
Something else, there will be a little change in the schedule!
We will push the scheduled collective discussion of next week further to
Tuesday the 12th of February, starting at 16:30h.
The discussion will focus on the question "What is federated
publishing?". We would like to use this collective moment to hear your
responses to this question. What triggered you in the last weeks? How do
you understand federation? See it as a deadline to present (web and
xmpp-based) prototypes, documentation and research questions, but most
of all as a moment to try things out! Please prepare your material in
such way, that we can put in on the table, look at it and discuss it
together. This also applies for questions you would like to share,
please print them out, that will make it easier to discuss them.
In the same week, you will also have a session with Lidia during Steve's
class on Wednesday the 13th. And the first seminar day with Florian on
Thursday the 14th.
See you soon!
Roel & Manetta
