Post-Master Program
a.pass offers a one-year program for development of artistic research projects on a
post-master level in a critical and collaborative environment.
The program invites artists, performers, researchers, writers, curators and theoreticians
to challenge the limits of their practice through developing and applying research
methodologies which bring to the forefront its performative, spatial and collaborative
aspects.
The program opens an experimental space for speculative modes of practice and critical
thinking. Researchers are invited to follow their research as a trajectory within a
transdisciplinary environment of self-organisation and collaboration. They engage in
presentations and feedback, collective workshops, individual and group mentoring and
modular interactions with their fellow researchers, mentors and the curators of the
institute. The content and the practical dispositif of the program are shaped by the
curators and the participant’s research in dialogue with the collaborative and public
aspects of their research field.
If you are interested to apply to the post-master program submit an artistic research
proposal situated within the context of your artistic biography. Your application should
provide a clear insight into your research, outline a research trajectory and methodology
and reflect on the relevance of the proposal within a collective research environment.

Research Center
Besides the post master programs a.pass invites artists and theoreticians to develop
independent artistic and transdisciplinary projects and become a.pass associated
researchers.
Associated researchers are seen as partners of a.pass. The Research Center welcomes
advanced researchers with an established research practice within an institutional
network. a.pass offers support for a specific constellation within this overall research
trajectory. Associated Researchers have access to the collective activities of the
post-master program, technical support, workspace and support with performative
publishing. Associated researchers do not pay a fee. a.pass can act as an institutional
partner in applications for funding or academic research. The specific terms of the
association will be formulated in an individual contract between the researcher and
a.pass, delineating the research steps that will be developed within the a.pass
environment and their possible public outcomes.
Associated researchers can apply three times per year for the upcoming cycle, ideally
after an initial conversation with one of the research curators. The next cycle begins in
January 2020.

*a.pass* is a platform for professionals in the fields of arts and theory who wish to
engage in a self assigned research topic. The institute defines and activates artistic
research by accumulating processes of artistic practice and critique.
Embracing the fact that artistic research has become a category of production in the
cultural field, a.pass does not claim to be able to delineate its borders or a single
methodology. Operating without a predefined notion of what „artistic research“ is, a.pass
creates and brings together a pluralistic overview of the existing notions of this
practice and affirms this apparent lack of definition as a chance.
