Sorry, I completely forgot about it.
We would like to have it displayed amongst other XPUB projects when the
audit panel will visit the project room on Monday, where FA, LB and XPUB
will be showing a sample of works and documents.
Does one of you have time to pick it up at HNI before the week-end?

Subject: <nettime-ann> billions: new email list on the impact of social media and big digital networks
Join billions by sending a blank email to billions-subscribe(a)listcultures.org <mailto:email@example.com>
Billions is a new old-fashioned email list for sharing information related to the impacts of social media and big digital networks on our lives and our communities. It’s a way for us to critically contribute to and keep track of the unfolding stories of social media and big digital across our planet, and to connect us with like-minded others.
Researchers, activists, artists, ai/crypto/engineers, and curious others are all welcome to join. Please share news items, academic research and other posts that may be relevant to the topic.
This list may evolve over time and become more defined, but for now we welcome you to join and share news, events and other information related to social media and big digital networks.
You can join the billions email list by sending a blank email to billions-subscribe(a)listcultures.org <mailto:firstname.lastname@example.org> - or reply to this message indicating your interest to join, and I can add you directly to the list.
Please note that your spam filter may identify emails from the list as junk/spam - so please check your appropriate folders or whitelist the address.
Please do share this invitation with others who may be interested.
Thanks to the Institute of Network Cultures for facilitating the hosting of billions.
Sam de Silva is an informal researcher, and implementer who has most recently been working with the not-for-profit Internews to support journalists, activists and coders in Sri Lanka and a number of countries in Asia - and helping to support the good, and counter the bad and the ugly of social media and big digital networks. He currently lives in Melbourne.

The first years have a full programme this week with Femke's special
issue, but fear not, if you're looking for extra curricular activities,
here is attached the programme of a conference that could be interesting for
some of you. We get free tickets (contact Florian though to tell him
you're coming, one email with all the names please) and XPUB will refund
train if you don't have a free travel card (that won't be taken out of
your €100,- travel budget, it's an extra).

Subject: Making Matters symposium on Critical Making, Thursday & Friday
----- End forwarded message -----
Next week will be busy with lots of Interfacing the law :-)
On Tuesday, we start at 11:00 in the small project room, for a day with Bodó Balázs. As an economist, Bodó has been studying the Library Genesis project and the way it makes knowledge flow. He will start with an introduction into his work, and then we'll move on to a hands-on mode on the basis of meta-data in the libgen catalog. Please read his two blogposts and be prepared to ask questions!
On Wednesday, Steve will continue working with you on processing the material.
On Thursday, you'll meet artist/writer/researcher Eva Weinmayr in Amsterdam Lelylaan for an excursion to the library of the Rietveld Academy. In the library, you'll find Anita and Martino who have been re-developing and rethinking the library catalogue alongside an ongoing program of activities on libraries as an infrastructure.
On Friday, we're back in Rotterdam for a session with Eva on different modes and practices of piracy. Eva has been working on publishing as knowledge production, and the reciprocity between authorship, authorisation and authority. She has prepared us a day with exercises, discussions and questions. To be ready for this, I propose we read the chapter she wrote in a recently published book, 'Whose book is it anyways'. We'll figure out on Tuesday how to divide up the text.
That's all for next week I think? Details are on the wiki, see you all on Tuesday!
Hello XPUB1 and XPUB2,
If you intend to present/attend at the Urgent Publishing conference, you
must register ASAP!
I know we now have a long XPUB tradition to make sure we are unable to
enter the rooms to the events we're supposed to present to, but this
time let's try to do it properly :)
It says that there's a waiting list, and that's true, but you will get
a badge/pass/etc. No worries, they will process the names afterwards.
Just make sure you either write:
"attending XPUB student"
"presenting XPUB student"
"blogging XPUB student"
in the comment section.
