IMPORTANT update your SSH passwords on pzwart servers
by Aymeric Mansoux
Hi,
if you have a shell account on one or several pzwart servers, please
login and update your password to a stronger one.
Something like a long sentence with couple punctuation characters is
fine for now.
Last night, a dormant account on a PZI server (ie unused), was
brute-forced (a bot tried many passwords until the right one was found)
and the account was subsequently used to attack another SSH server in
the Netherlands.
The server owner contacted out national network provider (SURFnet) and
this finally reached us.
This is bad and we're lucky that ICT did not turn off all traffic to the
server (that's the usual policy).
I found the suspicious account and disabled it, but please make sure
your account has a strong password.
Thanks,
a.

update floor plan
by Delphine Bedel
Hi, a quick update.
Leslie has all the info regarding the XPUB2 talks last wee: updated print floor plan for the 3 parts of the evening’s (old 1 on the pad.) Each talk is 15 min, with some breaks. As the evening is over 3 hours, plus 150 people expected and limited audio/video equipment, the students decided to go for the best audio/light conditions possible for their talks and the audience’s confort, taking in account the length of the evening. Therefore there will be chairs for the audience to seat, moved 2x during the breaks depending on the set up.
- Part 1: intro nadine, Xpub1, Pleun, Giulia, Franc and Karina, All will present on the same screen. Chairs installed in rows for the audience.
- Part 2: performance Karina, Max in the center of the space, audience chairs moved in a circle
- Part 3 during the break and end of the evening: Nadine in the kitchen. drinks served (part of project, see directly with her)
- During the breaks, plus beginning/end evening; the audience will be able see the students’ work and talk to them,
End of the evening: slash.
For installations of their work in the 2 spaces UBIK and Slash, check directly with the tutors in charge of that part.
NB it was obviously not possible to rehearse the talks live as, on the one hand, we can’t access the space of Ubik, and on the others the presentations were not finished by last week.
- 10 thesis should be printed for grad show. (The rest the week after). Emily offered to collect them for grad show, and Nadine or Giulia the week after. They will coordinate this with ABC and me. Leslie has further all the information you may need.
All the best with the installation and set up, Delphine

Subject: INC is looking for longform contributions, e.g. graduation research
Hi Aymeric,
At the Institute of Network Cultures we publish web-essays in the INC Longform series. Perhaps you know of a good research project, for example of a recently graduated student, that would make an interesting essay to publish online with us? If so, please forward this message and urge them to send in a pitch.
We offer a fee for authors and put a lot of work in editing, so as to make an excellent (first) publication possible, also for non-native English speakers.
More information: http://networkcultures.org/longform/submit/
Thanks in advance!
Miriam

Sounds good, thanks!
@XPUB2: can you tell me today if Dennis/Danny are an option (see
original mail below for details)? This is getting too late for me to
help organise that, so if I don't hear anything today, I will assume you
(as in XPUB2 you) will use yours and Ryan's playlists.
Thanks!
