An enjoyable discussion! Just a comment for Jim Andrews. It seems pretty clear that James
Meyer is himself something of a nutcase. Certainly his supposed contradiction Courant and
Robbins and his related contradiction in Lebesgue measure are wrong.
And the current state-of-the-art in random number generators appears to be the Mersenne
twisters (as in the C++ standard library), though I might be out of date.
