I haven't been very active in this list, but now I found a good reason
to jump in.
I am a teacher at the Open University of Catalonia (UOC.edu) and working
now in the Graphic Design Degree. Next year we are going to open a new
subject called "Generative Design" focused on print and I've been asked
to coordinate the creation of the pedagogical content.
I write to all of you because I am sure some of you have an interest on
the subject of graphic design and it's generative possibilities. I am
looking to open a debate, but also to find people (would be great if
there is any Spanish or Catalan speaking people in the list! but in any
case, we do provide translation services for English authors) to write
some parts of the needed content.
So far we are developing 3 case studies that will be produced along the
next month, and will be documented for the students. We will provide
them with all the working files to understand the case and to play with
the possibilities, the subject wants to be practice based.
From the practical side we will use Processing with the PDF library, and
I am willing to give to the students a historical background, some
philosophical insights and a theoretical framework from where to
approach their practices. I know some nice books and some examples that
will build a good state of the art, but today I realized it is quite
probable that some of the active people in this field might be in this list.
I am excited about the project and I wonder if anyone here have done any
teachings related to print graphics and generativity, to discuss the
future and constrains of it when we jump to print media, etc.
Feel free to reach me if you are interested in chatting to consider a
collaboration and discuss about the timing and fees,
Thanks in advance, and have a nice day or night!
